Hi all, What are your favorite pet names and why? I named a dog nicko, and I thought that was great. I also had a cat named Keter, and it was great. My sister had a dog named sitca and that was kinda unique. She also had a dog ninook. I told my friends that if I get a Kitty I am going to nam it smu after my school. Not cuz i go there but smu is pronounced smew and cats mew! lol so lets hear it, whats your fave pet names!

If I had dogs I would name them Mr TeaTime or Rebina, if I had a cat I'd name her/him Jam or Snowflake (and nickname it dandroff) and if I had a horse I'd name it Binky. ;)

If I had a female cat I'd name it hauly, and if it was a male it would be whisper. For a girl dog I want it's name to be Chloe. Or rover for a boy. I haven't any cats or dogs, but i had virds and they didn't have names. I like this topic Japanimangel? lol

If we name the pets, we always seem to pick names that fit them. My cats were named Meathead and Spooky Kitty. Meathead was a big goofball, nuff said. Spooky Kitty was both easily spooked and startled and also she slept in my room and scared the spooks away so I wouldn't have bad dreams, hehe. Our first dog came with the name Mosely and we found it fit him because he had a Disney type face and we had just watched the Jungle Book with Mowgli, so it fit. Our puppy who we've had now for six months is named Lacy and that is a pretty name. We don't know how she got it, but maybe she was named after Lacy Peterson in her memory. If I had another male dog, some names I'd pick are Dante, Hagen, and Friedrich. If I had a female dog, I'd name her Arwen, Leta, or Brenda. I don't know about cats, I can't think of names now. Oh, if I had one of those kimodo dragons, I'd name it Mordred, hehe

wow so many neat names! Ur getting a bunny? I want one!

Post 13 by krisme (Ancient Zoner) on Sunday, 19-Dec-2004 0:43:58

I had a bunny named Munchie, a goldfish named Lilac, and a dog named Casey. As for my current dogs, Franny was named after St. Francis of Asissi and because we got her soon after my grandfather's death and his middle name was Francis. As for Jasmine, she's a guide dog and I don't know how she got her name. I've decided that if I get cats their names will be Sphinx and Antigone, and if I get bunnies again I'll name them after one of the rabbits in Watership Down.

hmmmmm hard one to answer. I'd have to say my favorite pet name goes to my late cat Boo. A perfect name too lol. A all black cat, long hair, golden green eyes. And we got him from the humane society on Halloween when I was a kid.

Isildur a magnificent stroppy big Irish horse is known as Father Jack after the drunken, argumentative and sometimes violent priest, from Father Ted. You can just imagine this devil yelling Feck off! to everyone he meets.

Hiya. Well I had a dog named Jenny up til when I was four, and I liked that name. Then my sis had two rats named Sophie and Zoey. We called them Soaf and Zoe for short though. Sometimes. Or Zozo and Soafsoaf. Lol. If I had a rat, I'd name it Fudge or Oreo, or Snowflake. I really want a cat, and if I got one, I might name it Lyra or Pantalaimon, after The GOlden Compass books. But I think I'd have to meet it first before I named it. Hehehe.

Well, these are just names in general. Just names that I like, here's the list for dogs. Then I'll do cats. Toby, Shelby, Winston, Bailey, Ginger, duke, abby, rocky, Max, Sam, lacey, casey, Dakota, sasha, cody, jasper, Shasta, Disney, Shadow, Chance, Dodger, cody, salem, and zeus.
Now here's cats. Misty, Charlotte, Kaylin, Shenzy, Asia, China, Dutches, Daisy, Cristel, Fauna, Freckles, Geisha, Harmony, Jasmine, Kayla, Lacey, Sasha, Sunday, Nala, Penny, Patches, Cacia, Melody, Satin, Tiny, Tesse, Whiskers, Velvit, Shadow, Hidy, and Tonya. Some are repeats I know, but some would be good for either one really. So I figured if I ever get pets someday besides guide dogs, then I'll have a chance to name it. lol.

Post 32 by Twinklestar09 (I've now got the bronze prolific poster award! now going for the silver award!) on Thursday, 11-Jun-2009 22:28:19

For pet names, I like Tinkerbell, Sunshine, Twinkle, Comet, Pixie, Dixie, Shadow, Snowflake, Ashes, and that's all I can think of for now. I also like names that would not be as commone here, like some foreign names that have a nice meaning I like. I used to have a dog that I named Azi, which is an African name that apparently means "youth", so I thought that was cool. Also, I used to have a dog named Jubilee, and I liked that name also.

This is a great topic!!!!! We have a dog named Jade. She was rescued from the pound and that's the one she came with. Although I don't like it, I'm not about to change it as that's her identity.

We have two cats. Our girl was rescued an d is named BISK which is an accronym for bitty itty sweety, smarty, or any other name you care to use with the s (some say shitty) kitty. and our final feline is a boy named tanga, pronounced tangia. He was brought home from Tangier Island which is a small spot of land out in the middle of the Chessapeak bay. They have a terrible problem with unwanted animals being dumped there. The lady who owned the b and b where we stayed fed 25 cats every day. Now she feeds 24. Tanga is the indian word for pottery which is how the island got its name.

I have a dog named Horatio after Horatio Hornblower from the C.S. Forrester books. I also have a guide dog named Cinnabar who I didn't name but I think it's pretty cool. When I first heard the name I thought they were nuts, but it grew on me real quick. When I was little, I had a dog named Gonzo, after the muppet. I also had a dog named Howard, after Howard Twilley who played for the Miami Dolphins back in the day. I've also had cats named Gus and Emma and dogs named Roberto, Boomer, Sam, Junior and Mack. Right now I plan to name my next pet Fenway, after Fenway Park, natch. On my way home from the NFB convention this year, I was on a plane with a chick who had a guide dog named Raven (a black lab of course). I thought that was an awesome name.

Well, I think my family has some of the wearder pet names. Lol. We have a cat named Bisk, short for bitty, itty sweety, or what ever s word fits at the moment, most of them cusswords, kitty. We have a dog named Pria,my guidedog, not sure how she got that name, and we did have a cat named Tanga. He was a rescued kitty from the island of Tangier in MD, and we named him after his birthplace. We had a beggel named Nozy for short, her given name was Noel, and I couldn't stand it.

My favorite name for a dog is Lady. There's a special reason and I'll tell everyone that story later. As for a cat, I LOVE names like Dinah, Rajah, Simba and stuff like that. i actually had a cat named Simba once. He was a sweetheart and really protective of me.

We used to have a dog named Spud, and my mom called him Potatahead. The dog we have now is named Bella. Funny, as I was reading Order of the Phoenix when it first came out, I was thinking hmmm, my dog's got almost the same name as a psychopath!
If I ever get another dog, I'd want it to be brown so I could name it Rowlf, after the muppet. Was also just playing around with the idea of getting a hampster and naming it either Jacque or Rupert.
What I really want someday though is another cat. Not sure what I would name it; I'll know when the time comes.
